Meeting

To: Area Tobacco Producers RE: Tobacco GAP Requirements From: Tim Hambrick, Agr. Ext. Agent Attendance at a Tobacco Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) meeting is a requirement to by contracting tobacco companies you are well aware of by now. The GAP meetings for the 2015 season will take place on Friday, January 9 at the Forsyth County Agricultural Bldg. In order to better manage the crowd, we will have a breakfast meeting that will begin at 7:00 am and finish about 9:30. We will also have a second meeting beginning at 10:30 and finishing with lunch. YOU ONLY NEED TO ATTEND ONE MEETING TO MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS! Here are some additional details: 1. 1 hr of X credit will be available 2. there will be a "cap" on each meeting of 125 participants 3. you must register by phone at 703-2857 4. you must have a scannable GAP card, no paper certificates will be available 5. signup will be first come, first served

Marmalade Class

The much-loved favorite of Paddington Bear, marmalade is a fruit preserve made with juice and bits of citrus peel.  It is delicious on breads and pastries, as well as a topping for meat dishes. If you would like to learn how to make this delicious citrus preserve, please join the Pickling Pixies Food Preservation Group on January 8th at 6pm at the Cooperative Extension Office in Danbury, NC.  We will learn all about marmalade and how to make it.  Family and Consumer Sciences Agent Debbie Cox will show us how to make a delicious three-citrus marmalade with orange, lemon, and grapefruit.
