In the interest of protecting hives and informing the Stokes County Beekeepers are conducting the first Stokes County Bee Census. A primary goal of this effort will be to foster closer communication between beekeepers and pesticide applicators in attempt to minimize the risk to pollinators from pesticide applications. Brain Cain has agreed to be the contact person for compiling hive location data. We will create a map of Stokes Beekeepers showing hive locations and owner / operator contact information. The map will be made available to the public across a variety of platforms including social media, farmer’s markets, master gardeners, farm supply outlets, personal e-mail lists, Cooperative Extension e-mail lists, and others.

We hope you will see the value in creating this resource and we hope you will be willing to participate in this important effort. Please contact Brian Cain at cainbs@windstream.net to provide your hive information. Again we are hoping to map- hive locations and contact information for Stokes beekeepers. Thanks very much for your help.

On behalf of the Stokes County Beekeepers,

Randy Fulk
