Solar Energy Educational meeting

On August 29, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the South Stokes High School Auditorium, a presentation and question and answer session will be held about utility scale solar energy. Tommy Cleveland, Professional Engineer, will explain the technology, construction, regulations, and economics of utility-scale solar photovoltaic systems. In addition to providing an understanding of the development and operation of these solar electricity generating facilities, Mr. Cleveland will explore what is known about the various impacts of these systems on the community and the environment. Specifically, Mr. Cleveland will address common questions about PV panel toxicity, EMF/radiation, economic impacts, system decommissioning, and more. Additionally, Mr. Cleveland will discuss the characteristics that make a site are most suitable for solar and provide an overview of solar land leases.
