As the interest in farming grows, many people purchase or inherit land only to realize they don’t know what to do with it. Making the decision about what to grow, produce, or raise can be daunting. There is a lot of information available and it makes narrowing things down a challenge. The Cooperative Extension Service has developed a publication to help people make decisions regarding using their land for livestock. This document covers some basic considerations about livestock then covers species-specific information in a convenient format to allow quick comparisons. Our hope is this guide will help new landowners feel confident about starting a livestock operation. For further guidance, information, and resources, contact your local Extension agent.
