New Livestock and Forages Agent - April Bowman

N.C. Cooperative Extension, Stokes County Center is excited to announce that April Bowman started May 1, 2024 as the new Livestock and Forages agent for the county. April previously served as the Livestock, Forages, and 4-H agent in Forsyth County and prior to that was the 4-H agent in Stokes County. She serves on the NC State Niche Meat Working Group, the NC 4-H Livestock Advisory Committee, and on the Stokes County and Carolina Classic Fair Livestock Committees. 


April and her husband, Neil, and their son, Nate, reside on Neil’s family farm north of King where they raise beef cattle and sheep. Their daughter Lynae, is a recent graduate of Oklahoma State University. Their family is active in livestock showing, especially with 

beef cattle.


Extension Agents provide free research-based information to the public in every county in North Carolina, as well as all fifty states. Extension celebrated their 110th anniversary on May 8th. In addition to sharing information, April, also oversees the livestock equipment rental which includes: a mobile poultry processing unit, a home butchery kit, livestock scales, livestock panels/corrals, a hay moisture/temperature probe, and more.
