4-H Summer Update

4-H Summer Update

April 6, 2020 – 11 a.m.

Stokes County 4-H Friends and Families,

It is with a heavy heart I’m having to share this information with you. As per the request from NC State University and NC State Extension, all summer programming has been moved to online programs. Overnight camp has been cancelled.

Late Friday afternoon, we received final guidance from NC State University regarding summer 4-H programs. While the message specifically mentions camps, it refers to all K-12 face-to-face events and activities conducted by NC State University employees and representatives. This impacts residential camps held at our three 4-H camps/centers, events held on the NC State campus, and all face-to-face programs conducted in the counties until NC State Extension lifts restrictions on Extension programming.

4-H State Staff are heading up an effort to provide a virtual option for District Activity Days and State 4-H Presentation Finals, as well as virtual options for NC 4-H Congress and North Carolina Citizenship Focus. The camp leadership team will also be looking at ways to provide virtual opportunities at our camps.

As I begin to prepare for a virtual Summer Fun program, you will be receiving email notifications on how to sign up. Everyone who participates in our summer programs must complete 4HOnline registration (nc.4honline.com). All registration for summer programming will be through Eventbrite.

We are all disappointed that we must take these actions but this is the responsible thing to do. Our greatest concern is for the safety of everyone. Please take all appropriate measures to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. I would like to encourage our youth, many of whom live with or frequently interact with elderly relatives and neighbors, to do the same.

Please keep up with NC State University COVID-19-related updates and information on the Coronavirus Response website.
