Did you know that proper grazing management can help battle climate change? While plants are performing photosynthesis, they are absorbing carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. Carbon products are then released by the plants into the soil to be stored. This process is called carbon sequestration. It is estimated that grasslands in the U.S. could sequester 29.5 to 110 million metric tons of carbon annually. Properly managed grasslands also prevent erosion, helping maintain water quality and soil structure. Happy Earth Day!
