Explore our local trails with us! King Parks and Recreation is offering a series of hiking meet-ups once a month from June - November. N.C. Cooperative Extension in Stokes County will also offer educational information at each hike on topics such as proper hydration, the importance of exercise, and nutrition!
On October 15, 2021, we will be exploring the river section of Pilot Mountain State Park - we'll hike the 2.5 mile Horne Creek trail to the Yadkin River, rated moderate. Entering this access requires crossing three shallow streams. Wear sturdy shoes that can get wet and bring water, snacks, and sun protection with you.
We'll meet at 10:15 a.m. in front of the playground at 107 White Rd. to caravan to the trailhead. Hiking starts at 11 a.m. Attendees can meet at the park if they'd like.
If you've always wanted to get out there, but don't know where to go or don't want to go alone, this is the program for you! No need to travel far to enjoy the outdoors - let's appreciate the beauty of our backyard!
