Try making a leftover Thanksgiving sandwich to cut down on food waste this holiday season!

Household food waste increases during the holidays. Wasting food is like throwing away money. It also has a negative environmental impact. Andrew Wheeler, an EPA Administrator, says "Food waste over 70 billion pounds of food waste reaches our landfills every year, contributing to methane emissions and wasting energy and resources across the food supply chain."

Reduce food waste this holiday with these tips:
  • Use leftovers to make new dishes, such as casseroles, chilis, and soups.
  • Use leftover meats in sandwiches and salads.
  • Make to-go plates for guests.
  • Freeze leftovers.
  • Donate unopened and unused ingredients.
