You have received a nice arrangement of fresh-cut flowers and now you’re wondering how to make them last longer! Here is an overview to keep them looking fresh even longer.
Make Your Valentine Cut Flowers Last Longer
(Updated: Feb. 15, 2021, 5:55 a.m.)
- Make sure you check the water in the vase daily. If the water is cloudy or not clear, remove the cut flowers from the vase. Empty the water and rinse the vase with fresh water to clean it. If the water is clear, top it off if needed.
- Recut the flowers one-half inch up the stem at a 45- degree angle to remove clogged tissue and improve water uptake. Stems, especially rose stems should be re-cut underwater. Place the newly cut flowers back into the freshwater.
- Place the flowers away from heating vents, in a well-lit area that is out of direct sun.
- Remove any flowers that have begun to wilt or have become discolored to freshen the agreement.
Now you have extended the life of your Valentine’s Day cut flowers. Enjoy!
