Some of the most common types of light bulbs are incandescent, compact fluorescent (CFL), and light-emitting diode (LED).
Incandescent:- Emit light and heat in all directions
- Cheapest upfront cost, but less efficient compared to CFL and LED bulbs
- Last around 750 hours
CFL:
- Up to 75% more efficient than incandescent light bulbs
- Last 10 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs
- Emit light and heat in all directions
- More expensive than incandescent and cheaper than LED
- Last around 8,000 hours
LED:
- Up to 90% more efficient than incandescent light bulbs
- Are “directional” light sources, which means they emit light in a specific direction, unlike incandescent and CFL
- The upfront cost is higher, but overall cost of use is less
- Last around 25,000 hours
