Mobile Poultry Processing Unit - Stokes County Center

There are multiple Mobile Processing Units available for rent in NC. Stokes County may not be the closest MPU for you. MeatSuite has a list of MPU's that are for rent (check the box for MPU) at https://www.meatsuite.com/processor/. The following are links to some of those units:

All renters must attend a processing training hosted by N.C. Cooperative Extension prior to renting the unit for the first time. Trainings are typically held in late spring, and late fall. The next training will be on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at South Stokes High School. Register using this link and mail your check for $25 to Stokes County Extension, PO Box 460, Danbury, NC 27016.

Users who fail to cancel a reservation, or fail to pick up the unit when reserved without communicating with the Extension office will be required to submit a $25 deposit to hold future reservations.

On this page, you will find helpful information about the mobile processing unit and the rental process. Processing demonstration videos can be found at the bottom of the page.

Rental fees are $75.00 for rentals up to 4 days. The unit is available for rental to anyone who has completed the training course on a first-come, first serve basis. It is NOT only available to Stokes County Residents; however, the office reserves the right to direct producers to MPUs located closer to them.

Available dates can be viewed at https://go.ncsu.edu/stokesmpucalendar and reservation requests can be submitted at go.ncsu.edu/StokesMPU. We typically take reservations six months in advance.

Renters will need to supply their own propane tank for the scalder. 20 pound propane tanks are compatible.
