Tips for Reducing Food Waste

In celebration of Earth Day, here are some tips on how you can reduce your home food waste. It is estimated that 30-40% of the food supply in the United States is lost to waste. This not only has a huge cost financially, but also environmentally. 

In the United States, food makes up the largest percentage of items thrown into municipal landfills. In landfills, food doesn’t break down like compost does, it actually emits methane which is a greenhouse gas. Following these tips may help you to reduce your environmental impact and save you money.
