NC State Fair Youth Livestock
Junior: Ewes, Market Lambs, Gilts, Market Barrows, Does, and Market Goats exhibitors must request a nomination kit online using Showorks before June 14th! If the breeder of your animal has already placed a Got to Be NC tag in the animal’s ear, then you should order a Got to Be Nomination kit. This kit does NOT include a tag. If your animal isn’t a Got to Be, then you order the Non kit. Breeders that need to order Got to Be NC tags may do so by visiting https://nclivestock.net. Breeders who have not previously enrolled in the program will need to first complete an application prior to completing the Tag Order Form.
I will be happy to get your nomination kits for you. Please contact me to discuss delivery, awbowman@ncsu.edu, or 336-593-8179. If you would like, we can pull DNA at delivery, and I can take it with me that day! Schedule an appointment with me here. NOTE: I have limited availability due to professional development events, 4-H Summer Adventures and other events, so book your appointments early! Contact me if none of these dates work.
From June 15 – July 15, you must nominate your animal in the Showorks system, and upload both a head shot of the exhibitor and animal with the tag in place, and a profile photo, as well as turn in DNA to the Extension office. Entries must be made from August 15-September 15.
NCSF Rule Updates
The NC State Fair Swine Show is allowing 2 Purebred gilts, and 2 Crossbred gilts for a total of four. You may nominate up to 8 gilts. Barrows are the same; 2 purebred barrows, 2 crossbred barrows for a total of up to four. You may nominate up to 8 barrows.

Animals provided for FFA and official 4-H programs by NC producers can remain in the NC producers name with a signed Affidavit. This rules doesn’t apply to Dairy or Wool Sheep.
